Electro Harmonix 6CA7

The EH 6CA7 is designed to the specifications of the Phillips 6CA7, this classic tetrode returns to life in a big bottle design. The 6CA7EH is built to withstand today's high-gain amps while still retaining the detailed tone and component integrity of the original. A replacement, with military reliability, for the EL34.

These run hotter than standard EL34's, so you will need a reasonable amount of adjustment in the bias circuit of your amp.

We burn-in these valves for a minimum of 30-40 hours before matching. The reason we do this is to get rid of any faulty or weak valves and as a pre-grading process to allow the plate/grid mechanism to relax into its rest position. Tiny differences in construction make for enormous differences in electrical characteristics, and thus if a tube is graded after it has been burned in then the measured characteristics hold true over its lifespan to a greater extent. This seems simple but its amazing how many vendors ignore it. Its the reason so many people complain about poorly graded valves.
